Competition Rules
League Competitions
1.Team Knockout Competitions
1.1.
Clubs will be automatically entered into all main KO competitions. Teams not wishing to enter must withdraw their names by 31 st March each year via the League websites using the club login
1.2.
For all team knock out competitions, from Quarter Finals onwards all players must have played at least 5 games in the relevant league.
For all rounds prior to the quarter finals the number of games that must be played for each round will be announced at the start of each season by the Competition Secretary along with competition dates.
For any round players who have played more than 3 League games for a higher team in the League after the start of the current season are not eligible to play in these competitions for a team in a lower Division.
Contravention of this rule will lead to the opposing team being awarded 21-0 for each ineligible player.
1.3.
Each Captain must number their players in playing order.
1.4.
All team knockout competitions will commence at 7pm unless notified by the competition secretary.
1.5.
No player to play for more than one team in the same year’s competition. Contravention of this rule will lead to the opposing team being awarded 21-0 for each ineligible player.
1.6.
The winning Captain is responsible for entering the results onto the league website by the next morning. The opposing team captain should check and verify
the result entered within 24 hours, to enable the next round draw to take place.
1.7.
Matches must be played on the nights allocated unless the green is deemed unplayable by the hosting club.
A competition match may be postponed due to inclement weather no earlier than 17.30pm when a green is deemed unplayable by the host club. In the event of a postponement due to inclement weather, the host club must inform the competitions secretary who will inform both clubs. The match must be rearranged and played at the earliest opportunity before the next published round, unless an exception is agreed with the Management Committee.
1.8.
Competitions will only be run if there are a minimum of 10 entries
1.9.
For any other unforeseen situation the Captain should contact the competitions secretary as soon as possible for advice.
1.10.
Any team failing to be represented on the given match night will have their names deleted from the competition and be fined £60 which will go to the host club. This rule will be strictly adhered to unless there are exceptional unforeseen circumstances.
1.11.
League dress code may be required for the finals of the competitions. Competitions Secretary will communicate this beforehand. Dress
code will be as laid down in the League Rules for the current year.
1.12.
Teams withdrawing within 7 hours of a Jubilee Doubles, Market Drayton Doubles, Shropshire Star and/or Presidents Cup fixture being played must notify the Competitions Secretary, the Opposing Team Captain, and the Match venue. The withdrawn team will be liable to a fine of £25. Teams withdrawing within 48 hours of the fixture will be liable to a £50 fine, which will go to the host Club to compensate for groundsmen/bar stewards etc.
1.13.
When a team withdraws from a club competition after winning he previous round, the opposing team that lost the match will be offered the opportunity to progress to the next round.
1.14.
Clubs who enter any League Competition should where possible agree to make their green(s) available for use in hosting these events, as may be required. Any
greens that are selected by the Management Committee as venues for these competitions shall upon request, place their greens at the disposal of the Competition Secretary. You must accept at least one request per season per league. A club member is to be in attendance for the duration of the match. This person should provide four standard Jacks, four mats, and a 19meter tape and standard measures.
1.15.
Any club failing to adhere to rule 1.13 and make their green available on the scheduled date for a League competition which has been selected by the Competitions Secretary shall be fined £50 which will be split between the clubs that played at that venue.
1.16.
In all team knockout competitions played on a neutral green all players must pay £1 per player to the Host Club for cutting and preparing the Green.
1.17.
Matches will be played on neutral greens. Captains to toss for first jack and matches to be played on odd or even basis.
1.18.
In the case of a tie, the following order of elimination shall apply:
Tie on aggregate – The team with the most winners.
If still a tie – the team with the best winner.
If still a tie – the 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th best winners etc.
1.19.
Dates for each round of the competition will be published on the Leagues website and competitions calendar.
2. Jubilee Doubles (for the R.W. Griffith Memorial Trophy)
& Consolation Doubles,
Market Drayton Doubles (Jim Swire Trophy)
& Bernard Lazarus Trophy
2.1.
An Entrance fee is payable, and a team shall consist of 5 couples from registered players within the club. The entrance fee will be reviewed annually by the
Management Committee.
2.2.
All teams knocked out in their first game in the competition (ie in the preliminary or first round as appropriate) will be automatically entered in the Jubilee Doubles Consolation Competition or the Bernard Lazarus competition. Clubs must inform the competition secretary within 24 hours if they do not wish to be included.
2.3.
This competition is to be played on a handicap basis on neutral greens. Handicaps to be decided annually by the Management Committee and communicated at the
AGM before published in the rules document.

3. Shropshire Star Cup & Presidents Cup
3.1.
The competitions will be played in two sections the top 16 clubs in the league in the current season will play for the Shropshire Star Cup in section 1; the
remainder play for the President cup in Section 2. There are two separate trophies. The top 16 clubs will be determined 30 days before the start of the
competition.
3.2.
Teams shall consist of 12 players. For quarter finals onwards all players must have played at least 5 Whitchurch League games during the current season for the club
they are representing. Contravention of this rule will lead the opposing team being awarded 21-0 for each ineligible player.
3.3.
The Shropshire Star Cup is to be played on a Handicap basis, according to the position of that Club's highest team in the League. The handicap will be
determined 30 days before the start of the competition. Handicaps to be applied are as follows: # = number

3.4
The President’s Cup is to be played on a Handicap basis, according to the position of that Club's highest team in the League. The handicap will be determined 30 days
before the start of the competition.

4 Individual Competitions
4.1
All Competitors entering any Competition must have played at least 5 games for their Club by the end of the current season. If they go onto win the competition and
have not played the required 5 games they will forfeit the win. The exception to this being the Under 15 Merit competitors who may play if they are a member of a Club
belonging to either league.
4.2
All individual competitions (except Judith Purcell, St Alkmund’s and Under 12 and 15 merits) will play off scratch. When home bowlers are in the field this will change.
Home players will concede a 2 handicap in their matches, Premier League players will also be handicapped an additional 2 chalks (total of 4). Doubles and Triples
handicaps will be decided on the day by the official running the competition based on the makeup of the teams.
4.3
League dress code may be required for individual competitions. Competition secretary will communicate this beforehand. Dress code will be as laid down in the League rules for the current year.
4.4
Entrance fees must be paid on the day of the competition. Competitions will only be run if there are enough entries to make the competition viable. This will be at
Managements discretion
4.5
Entrance fees for all competitions will be decided annually by the Management Committee and published on the yearly competitions calendar.
4.6
Prize money for the competitions will be decided based on the number of entries per competition.
4.7
Eligibility:
Ladies merit is open to ladies only.
Junior competitions are open to anyone who have not reached the age of 18 years by 1 st January of that year (for U18 comp) or 15 years by 1 st January of that year (for U15 comp).
Individual merit is open to all.
Newbie trophy is open to bowlers who have started playing in the last 2 seasons.
Challenge trophy is for bowlers who play in the bottom 3 divisions of the league (highest across the 2 leagues).
