FLOODLIGHT COMPETITION
1. The competition shall be open to any number of teams of players registered with a club affiliated to the Oswestry & District Bowling League and who have played at least 4(four) league games in the current season or 6(six) league games in the previous season. Teams need bear no relationship to the normal league teams but must comprise registered players from the Club they play for in the midweek league. Players who only play in the Vets divisions can enter in any one team from the club they play for..
2. Each team shall comprise five (5) NAMED players (A.N.Other will not be accepted), any four (4) of whom may play in any one match. One player shall be nominated captain and that player shall be responsible for the completion of match sheets for their team and shall be responsible for the control of games on that green. The captain of the winning team in the Group shall be responsible for delivering all paperwork for their group to the person in charge of the quarter finals.
3. If any member of nominated team has to withdraw a substitute can be named provided that substitute is notified to the Competition Secretary before the start of first match. Having thus been substituted the original player can thereafter take no part in the competition. No substitutes shall be allowed once the competition has commenced.
4. Any number of teams may be entered per Club. Teams will compete in sections of Three (3),four (4) or five (5) teams per section, each team playing the other teams in that section once, on a neutral green, until a section winner is decided. All section winners will then compete in the finals on a knockout basis. Section runners up, and other teams may be given the opportunity to play for a consolation cup.
5. The entry fee will be fixed by the Executive Committee and must be forwarded with the entries. NO ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE FEE. 2024 fees are £10 per team. Prize money will be allocted at the discretion of the organising comittee.
6. Clubs whose greens are used will be allowed to run a raffle if desired to meet the cost of floodlighting etc. The League will make no charge or levies to competing teams other than the entrance fee.
7. In every match the toss of a coin by the captains shall determine the even cast of jacks. Standard jacks to be used. The team with the highest number of points scored in each group to go forward to the knockout stage (21 points per individual game maximum). In the event of a tie on points scored the team with the highest aggregate[1] shall go forward. In the event of a tie on aggregate the following order of elimination shall apply:

[1] Aggregate = excess of points won over points lost
8. In the event of a team failing to play any match their opponents shall be awarded a score of 80-60. No score shall be awarded to the defaulting team. In the event of one or more members of a team failing to attend to play the individual game(s) shall be awarded to the opponent(s) 21.11. No score shall be awarded to the defaulting player(s).
9. Where a team is incomplete those members who fail to appear will automatically be excluded from the next year’s following Floodlight Competition.
10. The draw to determine in which section teams play shall be made by the Executive Committee
11. The competition will commence in September the week after the League games have finished and will be played on, Tuesdays and Thursdays, (Mondays & Wednesdays if needed), commencing 7.00 pm.
12. Any matter arising that is not covered by these rules shall be dealt with by the Executive Committee whose decision shall be final.
