John Hare: stalwart of Wittering Bowls Club

 

Bowlers are mourning the sudden death of Wittering Bowls Club stalwart John Hare (78). Not only was he club chairman, but he had been its greenkeeper for nearly 30 years. He was also a member of Peterborough Parkway and was a regular player for Stamford Indoor Bowls Club's 'B' and mixed teams. A widower, who had retired from a career in engineering, he leaves a son and a daughter. Bob Warters.

Secretary's Pairs Final: 

 

Congratulations to Graham Patrickson and John Holroyd on winning the Secretary's Pairs final this afternoon against Rita Downs and Martyn Dolby. The Stamford Town team won by 18 - 13.

 

President's Triples Final: 

 

Congratulations to Wittering (AM) on beating Empingham by 21 - 12 in the President's Triples Final this afternoon.

Congratulations to Stamford Town Crusaders on their win against Stamford Town Dragons by 68 - 36 this afternoon.

Duncomb Shield Final:

 

Congratulations to Stamford Town (KV) on winning the Duncomb Shield competition this afternoon. The runners-up were Wittering.

Boor & Wainwright Shield final: 

 

Congratulations to Blackstones C, who beat Market Overton Tornadoes by 65 - 54 after a very close match.

President's Gala Day 

 

Twenty-two teams took part in the President's Gala Day competition.

 

Winning team: Adam Warrington, Jon Earl, Mike Humphries, Martyn Dolby.

 

Runners-up: Wayne Morris, Darren Middleton, Darren Russell, Mal Mitchell.

 

Congratulations to all the teams, and thank you to everyone who took part, making it such an enjoyable and successful day. A magnificent sum of £770 was raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital charity.
