20 June

Sad news from Neston.  It is with great sorrow that I have to inform fellow bowlers of the recent death of our former member and friend Angus McBain. Angus, 86, who died in Arrowe Park Hospital on 14 June 2024, had not been well for some months and his death came at the end of a 7-week stay in the hospital and following several previous hospitalisations and episodes of illness. Many bowlers, particularly those of the older generation, will remember Angus; he played outdoors for Neston (and, before its extinction, Capenhurst Bowling Club), for Burton Bowling Club in the Chester League and for Neston Indoor Bowling Club for many years. He will be sadly missed and long-remembered by those who came to know him over the years
